January 2000

In this issue David Tarrant talks about pruning woody houseplants to ensure lots of blooms next year, and we have a great article on seed starting by the Horticulturist at Ferry Morse Seed Company, Linda Harris – she covers all the basics to ensure success with your seeds this year. The Garden Action Items list is back after a month’s break with timely to-do’s, and the indepth How To talks about taking hardwood cuttings from your favourite trees and shrubs. Some interesting gardening and horticulture news from around the world include trees over 6000 years old, and how the infamous British Ground Force team sneaked into Nelson Mandela’s garden in South Africa (really, they did!). Our “mystery author” returns to talk about hedging and other winter interest plants and I swap berries in the fog for my Final Thoughts article…I hope you enjoy it!
